Which unique accommodation should you choose in the Verdon?

Before booking, ask yourself three questions: do you want complete privacy, or are you happy to be surrounded by other guests? Do you need genuine comfort — quality bedding, an en suite, air conditioning, breakfast — or are you drawn to something more rustic? And do you plan to dine on-site, or venture out to a restaurant each evening?

Glamping sites and campsites in the Verdon often feature dozens of unusual accommodations side by side. La Noccemada has taken the opposite approach: just two accommodations, within a private property, with a chef on hand.

Check-in is between 4 pm and 9 pm; check-out between 8 am and 11 am. The estate is reserved exclusively for adults.

Private jacuzzi, chef's dinner, secret picnic: living the exceptional

A unique stay is about far more than where you lay your head. At La Noccemada, the evening is every bit as important as the night itself.

• The chef's dinner — Stephan, your private chef, trained in Michelin-starred kitchens, prestigious palaces in Geneva, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Monaco, aboard private yachts and with renowned cruise lines including Cunard and Seabourn. • The secret picnic — a dinner for two in a Verdon location kept secret until the very last moment: a bespoke itinerary, linen tablecloth, cushions, lanterns and two hours entirely to yourselves. • Take-away hampers — for a leisurely lunch by the lake, order one of our hampers, or have a meal delivered anywhere in the Verdon with our delivery service.

Exploring the Verdon from your base

The estate is situated in Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier, within the Verdon Regional Natural Park, approximately 40 minutes from Aix-en-Provence. Driving times from La Noccemada:

• 10 min — the hilltop village of Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier, its windmills and sweeping views over the Verdon.
• 17 min — Gréoux-les-Bains, its thermal baths and château.
• 25 min — Quinson and the Lower Gorges of the Verdon.
• 30 min — Lac d'Esparron (swimming, canoeing, paddleboarding and electric boating) and the Valensole plateau, ablaze with lavender in June and July.
• 35 min — Manosque, for those in search of a unique stay near Manosque.
• 55 min — Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the gateway to the Gorges du Verdon.
